Using the Scanner App

How crew members use the ReelCount Scanner app to collect their meals.

Updated over 2 months ago

The Scanner app is used at catering sites to scan crew passes. Once connected to a location, it provides a straightforward tap-and-scan process for collections.

Starting the Scanner

  • Open the app on the iPad.

  • Tap Start to begin scanning.

  • The background image set in Location Settings will appear on this screen.

Scanning a Pass

  • Hold the pass QR code in front of the camera.

  • If valid, a green tick will appear and the crew member is approved.

  • If invalid, a red cross will appear with the reason (already collected, not scheduled, or site offline).

⚠️ Note: Passes only work once per day. At midnight, all passes reset automatically.

Collecting for Multiple Crew

  • Select Multiple Collect in the app.

  • The crew member collecting must first scan their own pass to identify themselves.

  • They can then add other crew by scanning their passes one by one.

  • At the end, the app confirms the number of meals approved.

⚠️ Warning: Always make sure the correct collector scans first. This ensures the admin portal records who collected on behalf of others.

Key Points

  • Each crew member can only collect once per day.

  • Multiple collects are logged in the portal, showing who collected for whom.

  • The app requires a live internet connection. If Wi-Fi drops, scanning won’t work.

That’s how the Scanner app is used to manage collections quickly and securely on site.
