The ReelCount Scanner app is used at catering sites to scan crew passes. It works best on iPads set up as check-in terminals, though it can also run on iPhones if needed.

Downloading the App

First Time Use

  • Open the app once installation is complete.
  • You'll be asked to enter a six-digit location code on the "Enter your location's code" screen, then tap Log In (see Connecting the App to a Location for details).
  • Once connected, the app shows your location with the background image you set in Setup → Locations. When a meal session is running, you'll see the Tap to start screen; outside session hours it shows Currently Offline — that's normal, and it will come alive when your next session begins.

Key Points

  • The app requires a live internet connection to work — every scan is checked with ReelCount in real time.
  • Use the app on iPads wherever possible — this provides the best check-in experience for crew. The scanner uses the iPad's front camera by default, so crew can hold their pass up to a mounted iPad; there's a flip-camera button on the scan screen if you'd rather scan handheld with the back camera.
  • The app is free to download, but you need an active ReelCount account to use it — the location code comes from your ReelCount admin portal.

That's how to install the ReelCount Scanner app and get ready to connect it to a location.
