Yes — the ReelCount Scanner app can be installed on iPhones as well as iPads. However, it's designed to work best on iPads. There is no Android / Google Play version — the scanner is iOS-only.

Using on a Phone

  • The app functions the same way on iPhone.
  • You can scan passes and even use Scan Multiple Passes to collect on behalf of others.
  • It can be useful as a backup device if an iPad isn't available.
  • By default the app uses the front camera (ideal for a mounted iPad that crew scan themselves against). On a handheld phone you'll usually want to tap the flip camera button on the scan screen to switch to the back camera — the app remembers your choice on that device.

Why We Recommend iPads

  • The larger screen is easier for crew to use when scanning themselves.
  • Mounted iPads on stands work well as check-in desks.
  • iPads are better suited for Guided Access, which prevents tampering.

Key Points

  • Phones can run the app, but iPads provide the best experience.
  • Use iPads wherever possible for smoother operation.
  • Keep phones as a backup option if needed — just remember to flip to the back camera for handheld scanning.

That's how ReelCount works on phones — fine for emergencies, but iPads remain the recommended setup.
