How to prepare your iPad for use as a ReelCount Scanner terminal.

Updated over 2 months ago

For the smoothest experience, we recommend setting up your iPad so it can be left running securely throughout meal service.

Use a Stable Stand

  • Place the iPad on a fixed stand or desk.

  • This makes it easier for crew to scan passes themselves.

  • It also helps keep the device safe from damage.

Enable Guided Access

Guided Access locks the iPad to the ReelCount Scanner app so it can’t be tampered with.

  • On the iPad, go to Settings → Accessibility → Guided Access.

  • Turn it on and set a passcode.

  • When in the Scanner app, triple-click the home or side button to start Guided Access.

Keep Wi-Fi Connected

  • The Scanner app requires a constant internet connection.

  • Place the iPad somewhere with strong, stable Wi-Fi.

  • Avoid areas with patchy coverage or interference.

Use Multiple iPads for Busy Sites

  • You can run the Scanner app on more than one iPad using the same location code.

  • This helps avoid queues at peak times.

  • All devices stay in sync through the cloud.

Key Points

  • A stable stand keeps the iPad accessible and secure.

  • Guided Access prevents accidental or intentional tampering.

  • A strong internet connection is essential.

  • Multiple iPads can run side by side at the same site.

That’s how to configure your iPad for reliable daily use with the ReelCount Scanner app.
