No — ReelCount requires a live internet connection at all times. Both the admin portal and the Scanner app rely on syncing data in real time.
Admin Portal
- The portal runs in a browser and needs internet to load crew, schedules, and your dashboard.
- Changes made offline would not save or sync.
Scanner App
- The app checks each pass against the live schedule — every scan is validated online, and there's no offline queueing or catch-up.
- Without internet, passes cannot be validated and scans will fail with an error screen.
⚠️ Warning: If Wi-Fi drops at a location, the Scanner app will not work until the connection is restored.
💡 Note: The scanner's "Currently Offline" screen doesn't mean a network problem — it means there's no active meal session at that location right now (the current time is outside the session's start and end times). A lost internet connection shows up as errors when scanning instead.
Key Points
- ReelCount cannot run offline.
- Always ensure stable Wi-Fi (or a reliable mobile hotspot) at each catering site.
- For busy locations, consider multiple iPads to avoid bottlenecks while scanning.
That’s why a live internet connection is essential for ReelCount.
